It was indeed a memorable one as I've experienced a lot of first times. I was even adopted for the night by my father's friend that's living in Roxas. The locals are indeed very nice. Most of the tourist that I encounter going there is from Bacolod and Iloilo. I seldom see Manileno's come there so I assume this is not yet as popular as other tourist destinations for the Manila locals. And actually, I want it to stay that way to prevent it from being so busy that it might be hard to maintain after some time.\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n \u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n Isla de Gigantes or sometimes called \u003Cb\u003EGigantes Island\u003C\/b\u003E is composed of mainly two islands which are Gigantes Norte, where most of the resorts are located, and Gigantes Sur where most of the Gigantes locals stay. We stayed at Gigantes Sur and it is one of the longest night of my life. It's either you take the Roxas route, which is the best way because it is nearer to Bancal port, or take the Iloilo route wherein it will take longer as you will take Estancia Port that is 4 hrs aways from Iloilo center. They brought me to the port and even bought 2 liters of water that I can bring with me. If I just have my own drone then this will be the perfect spot for it. The water is sooooo blue and the sandbar is a very long stretch that has a view of two different rock formations. This is where we also ate our lunch. We had fish, scallops, crabs, oysters, rice.. and everything is unlimited! I only had one problem though.. I had mumps that time so it was hard chewing the food.. If I didn't have it back then, I would have probably stuffed myself to death. Seafood is love. I don't know how true this is but the island is just small. I think none from our group went down to experience it. You can snorkel, rent a banana boat or rent a jet ski. Most people have mistaken this place as Isla de Gigantes. But no, it's actually called Cabugao Gamay and the Isla de Gigantes we're referring to is not even a tourist destination. It's just the place where resorts place accommodations for all these island hopping stuff.\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n \u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n It was indeed a tiring day but it doesn't end there! Once we're done taking photos at Cabugao Gamay, we went straight to Gigantes Sur because this is where our accommodation is located. The accommodation we had is like a \u003Ci\u003Ebahay kubo\u003C\/i\u003E type wherein if you will ask is okay with me.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n \u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n What I didn't like though is that it didn't have any blankets! And that I only figured it out when everybody was asleep so there was no one I could ask. I am the type of person who can't sleep without a blanket. This is like the longest night ever as I couldn't sleep. No blankets, and since it's a \u003Ci\u003Ebahay kubo\u003C\/i\u003E type, the temperature outside can easily be felt inside. And it was soooo freaking cold! I can also hear the curtains slamming the thin wood facade of the \u003Ci\u003Ebahay kubo\u003C\/i\u003E. Super scary! I remember finishing all the songs in my playlist and I haven't had a deep sleep yet. We arrived at Estancia at around 10 AM then from there, I had to take a van going to Tagbak Terminal in Iloilo. Travel time? 4 hours. I arrived at Tagbak at around 2 PM then I went straight to SM Iloilo because that's where the van to the airport is. I roam around the mall first and bought some bread to eat that will also serve as my lunch. My flight to Manila was a bit delayed though but I arrived safely. Plus this is all our first times to celebrate festivals like this. Nino. Well you see, Philippines is a Catholic country and Filipinos celebrate different festivals to honor saints. Two of the most known religious festival is the Sinulog of Cebu and Dinagyang of Iloilo. And since we love celebrating, we also do have festivals of different kinds like festival of flowers (Penagbenga of Baguio) and many other stuff. The festivals alone are good reasons to visit Philippines. In our planned itinerary, before we go to the ferry terminal bound for Iloilo, we should be able to go to Pope John Paul II tower and Bacolod Baywalk. However, we didn't know that Baywalk is close during mornings so we had no choice but to go to Pope John Paul II tower alone and admire the view on its viewing deck.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nPope John Paul II Tower is an important landmark for the people of Bacolod. It also plays an important role in the history of Bacolod because this 7 storey building is built to give honor to the late pope's visit in Bacolod. The tower has many memorabilia from when the pope visited Bacolod. One of which you can see is the papal chair the pope used in his visit.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nEntrance is only P20. On the roof top, you will see a 360 degrees view of the surroundings. We went there early in the morning so aside from the view, we also get to enjoy the fresh breeze of the air. We just admired the view and had pictures. We already bought our ferry tickets to Iloilo prior to the trip because we thought there might be a lot of passengers due to the Dinagyang festivities. Too bad for us, the competition starts early in the morning and so we weren't able to watch it. Nonetheless though upon arriving, we could feel that there's still a lot of activities to see.\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nBefore going to the city center to immerse ourselves in the culture and party, we first had our filling bowl of the famous \u003Cb\u003ENetong's La Paz Batchoy.\u003C\/b\u003E They say you haven't been to Iloilo if you didn't try this staple food of theirs. Actually, I could eat the batchoy all day. \u0026lt;3 Netong's have branches throughout Iloilo but the ones we tried is inside La Paz market. And this pretty much is the best example of \"eat with the locals!\" lol. All the waiting we had for the ferry is super worth it because of the batchoy. At least that's how I want to see it.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nBut then again, if you're not the type who samples local food in a carinderia type of restaurant, then this is not for you. Too bad you won't be able to taste this famous batchoy. The seating capacity inside if I'm not mistaken can cater 30 people. And don't worry, it is air conditioned.\u003Ci\u003E *wink wink*\u003C\/i\u003E I don't have any objections with the price because for me it's really worth it. Btw, I might be a little bias on this because personally, I do love noodles. And well.. everyone is walking. There are lots of street foods.. balloons.. souvenirs, concerts here and there. It's already a known fact to most of us that festivals are being taken for granted to sell illegal substance. Sometimes, if not always, some people use this kind of festivals as an excuse to engage in sexual intercourse with people whom they just met. But with Dinagyang, even though there are people drinking in the streets, I don't see people having malicious intent. It's quite far and since most of the streets are closed due to the activities, we had no choice but to walk before hailing a jeepney. Tatoy's is a Filipino restaurant that specializes in grilled chicken. They have in door and al fresco dining. In fairness to the food, everything we ate is yummy and filling. They also serve oysters for P70\/big cup! Aside from the home cooked meals we tried, they also serve homemade ice cream for dessert which if you ask me is just so-so. However, since it's Dinagyang, most of the places we planned to see are close. So we just opt to enjoy the festival itself rather than tour around. From Guimaras, we went back to Iloilo then before we went back to Bacolod via OceanJet ferry, we squeeze Museo Iloilo in for that day with all our heavy bags and \u003Ci\u003Epasalubong \u003C\/i\u003Eon hand. Lol!\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nWell, Museo Iloilo is just a single storey building. But even if it is just a single storey museum, it showcases its Ilonggo pride through the exhibit. They also feature an Ilonggo artist every once in a while to show every tourist how talented Ilonggo's are. During our visit, the featured artist is a local that's carving sculptures. all of which are carved intricately. And this might be a little embarrassing but this is where I first saw a mickey mouse money up close. I was amazed! haha!\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Ccenter style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\nIf you're wondering where we stayed in Iloilo, we stayed at \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.agoda.com\/partners\/partnersearch.aspx?cid=1762335\u0026amp;pcs=1\u0026amp;hid=247749\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EUrban Inn\u003C\/a\u003E near the La Paz market. It was the hype of Dinagyang so the prices are really high. And this is the only place we saw that can cater to all 6 of us since most rooms are already booked. The inn is just so-so. But I really like the interiors in the hall way. As for the room, the room given to us was not really nice but we had no choice. It's one night so I guess it's alright.
