Sunway Lagoon Malaysia

Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia

Sunway Lagoon is the first theme park I've gone to that both have attraction rides and water theme parks. I mean it's like 2-in-1 which means twice the fun of a regular theme park! I actually haven't heard about Sunway Lagoon until we went to Kuala Lumpur.

People often think of Legoland when they go to Malaysia but what people don't know (including me) prior to research, is that Legoland is really far from Kuala Lumpur. I mean if you want to visit Legoland, might as well come from Singapore. It's actually closer to Singapore than Malaysia's capital.

And while I also want to visit Legoland during this trip, it's not possible as I've said, it's really far and it would really take an overnight which is not feasible because we already booked this awesome apartment for 4 nights in Kuala Lumpur.

Sunway Lagoon isn't hard to find. We just took an Uber ride and without much hassle, we were there right when the theme park opened. There are a lot of people but that's what you expect from a touristy place. Also no hassle of getting tickets as we already booked ours from Klook.

Sunway Lagoon has 6 major parks: Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, Sunway Lagoon Waterpark, Sunway Lagoon Amusement Park, Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park, Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park, Sunway Lagoon Scream Park.

Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon is where the Spongebob theme park is located. They have character meetups and I think they also some slime thing going one. There is this pool where most kids can enjoy. The water's not deep and is suitable for toddlers.

Sunday Lagoon Waterpark, on the other hand, is like the BEST waterpark I've gone to so far! The slides are the bomb! If you happen to visit this, try the VUVUZA! It is like the highest and largest thrilling water ride!

I never thought I would survive this one. If you don't know me, I am not that brave type in terms of rides. I always need that extra push. haha! And after trying it for one time, I really enjoyed it and wanted to ride again. My eyes were closed the whole time though. I tried peeping but it feels like we are getting thrown out somewhere! haha!

They also have Waterplexx5D where you will watch a movie. It's like a 4D ride with water splashing all over. They also have flow rider, like a surfing simulation stuff. We weren't able to try it as it is closed most of the time and when it's open, there are a lot of people waiting in line.

But hey, vuvuza alone is enough to get the adrenaline rushing. The best! I guess if there's one theme park I enjoyed the most inside Sunway Lagoon, it is the waterpark.

Sunway Lagoon Amusement Park is like the rest of the other theme parks, carousels, bump cars, etc. You know the drill. There's this ride though call Pirate's revenge where we thought it is just like a normal Viking ride. You know, the one where you ride a boat and swings until it gets higher and higher but boy we were so wrong! I am convinced that this ride should be located in the Extreme Park.

We almost ride this one because we thought it is just the normal one and good thing we were all not in the mood because if we do, who knows until when are we going to throw up! lol. It isn't just the normal one! It is actually rotating 360 degrees!

And not only that, it sometimes suspends in the air making you all upside down for like 5 seconds until it goes swinging again. Just by watching it makes us throw up! It's like swinging for good 10 minutes or more. I don't know but it feels really long.

So when the people riding the ride went down, some of them actually throw up and cannot move. they need to stay put in one area to drill down the dizziness. Can't imagine riding it.

If you fancy animals and not so much into rides, then you're lucky as the theme park also have Sunway Lagoon, Wildlife Park. It is like a mini zoo. I'm not really interested in animals but kids can learn a thing or two in this area of the park. You know, the usual, bird species, tigers, etc.

Extreme Park, on the other hand, is something different. They have bungee jumping, G-Force X, Go Kart, archery, etc. The one we tried was paintball shooting. And guess what, I wasn't able to shoot anything. haha! Not really for me.

Lastly, they also have the scream park where it boasts its Ghost Busters adventure live, It's kinda a horror house with a notch higher. There's an area where you will watch some clips then the usual horror stuff where they'll try to scare you. It's actually fun and scary (knowing that I am really a scaredy cat). What I hated was there's someone from our group who's also making fun of us getting scared. We can tell they're talking about us in their local language.

For me, it's impossible to ride all in a day. Also impossible to check out everything in a day especially when you're having fun somewhere inside. The place is quite big as well... bigger than Universal Studios Singapore.

There's something for everyone. For kids, for adults. And if you love Spongebob, you will certainly love their Nickelodeon lost lagoon! I mean I think it's the only theme park where they have Spongebob as one of the main attraction.

The only thing that ruined our day was the rain. If you read my previous Kuala Lumpur post, you would know that it is almost raining year round in Malaysia. You can't actually predict when it'll rain and for how long it'll be. Too bad during our Sunway Lagoon visit, it really rained hard that most of the attractions were closed for safety reasons.

We were able to roam to most of the area but we weren't able to enjoy the rides much because of the rain. Extreme Park's rides are all almost close so we only got to try paintball.

As for food, there are a lot of food choices inside. Of course, theme park foods are relatively expensive but in Sunway Lagoon, it's not that super expensive. Let's just say they don't try to take advantage just 'coz you're inside a theme park. Good variety of food too!

There are locker rentals for when there's no one to look after your belongings. Shower areas are big.
I think you should not miss this if yo're in Kuala Lumpur. And if you enjoy theme parks like me, then this one is really a must!

Going back to the city isn't also a problem. We just took an uber then we're back. What a tiring and fun day. This trip is just so carefree. :)

TIPS: There's a ticket for amusement park only, there's ticket for waterparks only, and there's a ticket for both. If you opt to try both the amusement and water parks, be sure to bring a swimwear you can use. I suggest rash guard and spandex shorts. Bring towels, sunblock, shampoos, and soap. Basically, if you will try the waterpark, be prepare for it. :)
