Throwback Post: Tagaytay Staycation at Discovery Country Suites

I'm not really a south person. I don't even know which cities consists south, but well.. let's not talk about Geography. I felt very lucky to stay in a very country yet classy suite type hotel in Tagaytay. Actually this wasn't part of the plan, my college close friend Nadine and I really planned to go to SG this year, however, we can't seem to find a package that will suit our budget well. We went to Travel Expo this year held at SMX and searched for the most budget friendly package we could find but it seems that it wasn't for us. Most of the packages that were offered in the expo didn't have an airfare yet, and as we all know, airfares aren't cheap! We went through all the booths but found nothing so we decided to try to book our airfare in AirAsia. The line was very long and we're kind of hungry already. After waiting, we don't know how we got unlucky but they said they don't have a direct flight to Singapore like WHUUUUT?! We wanted to try Cebu Pacific but the line was too long (like double the queue in AirAsia), and we're already hungry.. so yeah, we stopped.

That feeling we have upon entering the expo versus the feeling we had upon exiting were total opposites. We said we're not going home until we found a good deal but at end of it, we didn't found any.. So, the connection? Apparently while looking for the exit, we stumbled upon hotels who're offering huge discounts  for room rates! like MAJOR discounts. Long story short, instead of going to SG, we just booked a hotel room whose published rate is P15,000+++ but we just got it for around P6,000+. Major discount right?!

and yeah.. that's Discovery Country Suites in Tagaytay. One of the Discovery Suites property. Fast forward to our stay, we just completely fell in love with what this luxury hotel has to offer. They always make the guest's stay personal and memorable, and of course, relaxing.

Who wouldn't be thrilled with that view?

Just like other hotels, their standard check in time is 2:00 PM however we checked in at around 3 PM. Just a little bit of side story, it's actually funny because we arrived at the front of the hotel riding a tricycle and other guests had their cars with them, so medyo funny lang because we don't look sosyal. hahahah. We even thought na sana sa Starbucks na lang kami nagpapababa then we just walked from there to the hotel since it's beside starbucks.

Upon checking in, we just showed our travel expo voucher, an ID, and we're immediately escorted to our room which is...

Of course I already did my research beforehand about the hotel so we would know what to expect and what services we are getting. And yes, we're not disappointed. Our room is very cozy!!

Insert Norah Jone's come away with me in the background. hah!

Our room is very spacious, the bed's very comfy, and everything else is cozy. During the expo, one of their marketing people told us that their suites here in discovery country suites are newly renovated and boasts its themed room. They only have 7 suite rooms here and all are different when it comes to themes.

Right after we settled in our room, a little chitchat, selfie takings, then we went straight to Restaurant Verbena to take our complimentary wine and cheese pairing. You can either have it in your room or in the restaurant. For us, we have it in the restaurant so we can experience the ambiance in the restaurant naman. Upon our stay there, the place is mostly quiet. I didn't know if there are other guests occupying other rooms but most of the time, the place is too quiet.

After the wine and cheese pairing, we went back to the room and maximize our stay there. Kulang na lang talaga magpagulong gulong ako sa kama. Lol. By the way, they have dvd and book library so you can have a movie or read a book on your room.

We borrowed like 3 chick flick movies but of  course we didn't watched it all. Kwentuhan pa lang kulang na time so we really don't have time to squeeze in all 3 movies. We watched "How to lose a man in ten days" before sleeping but I slept in the middle of the movie. No use, didn't know how the movie ended.

Bag of Bean's shepherd's pie is yum!

Being a budget friendly person, the meals in Restaurant Verbena for us is not cheap so we decided to eat dinner outside and went to Bag of Beans. However, for those who have the gold to have a meal for 700 pesos and up, I suggest you try Restaurant Verbena as upon researching, their food is one of the highlights of your stay there,

Before bed time, we had this complimentary milk and cookies that taste just like awesome. The milk has a vanilla smell that sets your senses straight to bed right after.

But being us, we don't go to bed early you know. So we had the jacuzzi by ourselves until we think it's really time to go to bed. Girl talks until we ran out of stories to share.

Will you please excuse the bad lighting and angle.

As for breakfast, you would just not have a scrumptious meal but also this view to digest. We had our plated meals but they also offer a buffet of breads and fruits.

What can I say? The breads are soft and glorious but I think the plated meal i chose was ordinary. There's nothing special. The meal is delish but I'm finding something special about it since it cost's about P600.00 so there must be something special about. The breakfast too was complimentary so it was free but if you'll order for a succeeding plated meal, you must pay for it.

Right after breakfast, we went back to the Jacuzzi and wonder how we cannot have this life in a daily basis. I mean, everything is stress free and cozy. It's like our stay there isn't enough. How we wish we bought two vouchers at the expo so we could've stayed there for two nights. Our stay there was short. Definitely a home away from home. If we could just bring the beds with us! and the pillows too! Ughhh.. lahat na. Just the whole room please!

But of course, my stay there wouldn't be awesome and fun as it is if it weren't for my college bessy Nadine. Hihihi. I hope next expo we can already find a good SG package for us. We're also planning on buying another voucher for our next staycation.. so yeah.. until then.. work-life balance muna! HAHA.

The verdict? 8 out of 10. we just had a little issue with the customer service but aside from that, our whole experience is nice.
