Hola! So I've been MIA in the past weeks and it's only until now that I had the time (because ASEAN summit holiday) and the feels to blog. I'm not really in the mood to write and blog in the past weeks and I don't wanna force it so I just had some time off with blogging and enjoyed life outside the blog. Lol!

A lot had happened recently but what I am about to blog right now is our first day in Kuala Lumpur last April. Haha yeah.. last April. This is already a throwback post but regardless, I hope you guys still enjoy this entry as much as I enjoyed that vacation. 

Malaysia is a lot like the Philippines and I cannot stress that enough. I like how we have so many common words with them and how history binds us together.

Our first day in Kuala Lumpur consists of visiting the different tourist's spots around the city as well as visiting their famous Batu Caves. And to lessen the hassle of commuting since I'm with the family who are not into exploring the streets and are not into walking that much, I booked our tours from Klook wherein most of the packages come with a shuttle service that will fetch and bring you back to the hotel.

The operator fetch us from The Face Suites at around 9AM before we transferred into another bus with other tourists. There's a tour guide all throughout the tour that will explain the history and everything you need to know about Malaysia. For one, I learned that they always expect rain all throughout the year. 

Malaysia also mostly consists of Indians, Chinese, and Malays. They actually have a diverse culture. The tour guide also told us the story on how Singapore got to separate from Malaysia... that's another story for another time though. 

The city tour consists of the following:
  • Petronas Twin Tower (photo stop)
  • Handicraft Centre
  • Cocoa Boutique
  • King's Palace (photo stop)
  • National Monument
  • National Museum (excludes entrance fee of RM5 per person)
  • National Mosque (photo stop)
  • Sultan Abdul Samad Building

Our stop with the Petronas Tower was just for photo ops but no worries as our hotel is just minutes away from the world-renowned building. Actually, when we first landed and was on uber going to our hotel, this tower got me so star struck! No exaggeration but seeing it up close is soooo nerve wrecking like I only see it in pictures but now it is so close to me! The building was sparkling the whole night making my traveler heart weak. Lol!

Petronas Tower is the tallest twin tower in the world. It's actually an office but it has a viewing deck for people who want to explore the view from the building. As for us, we didn't go inside but admiring it from the outside is already a memorable experience. I also love how we got a nice view of the tower from our hotel's pool area! Yes! Petronas Tower on the left then KLCC tower on the right! <3 It is one of the reasons why our KL trip is memorable. Those two towers are just in front of us! Believe me when I say it's really pretty. (How much more the Eiffel Tower, right? huhu)

So back to the tour.. We visited the handicraft center and the cocoa boutique wherein they sell many kinds of chocolate and "white coffee". I think it's one of their exports...

After visiting all the sites for the half day tour.. we were dropped off to the tourist center and was advised to eat lunch before we depart for the Batu Caves. 

Our first stop before Batu Caves is the Royal Selangcor. Royal Selangcor is a pewter factory that is the home to the world's biggest pewter tankard. The tour comes in with a tour guide and ocular visit to a step by step guide on how the finished product comes to life. There are real workers that will do the demo for the visitors. After learning their techniques and how these products are made, there's an area wherein all their products are displayed. Various types for different people are displayed. Their visitor center also has a room for hands-on learning.

After Royal Selangcor, we went straight to Batu Caves.

In order to marvel the beauty of this cave, you have to go through a flight of stairs. There are also lots of monkeys around the area so you have to be cautious as I saw some monkeys getting stuff particularly food from some tourists. 

Batu Caves has three main caves that feature temples and Hindu shrines. To be honest, I didn't see anything extraordinary in the caves. There wasn't too much to be seen except for the cave itself and some statues. Though for the sake of learning KL's history, you really have to visit Batu Caves when you found yourself in this city.

After a tiring day exploring the nearby landmarks, we decided to have our dinner to the famous night market/street food street found in Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor. Guys, this street is heaven! This is where you will most likely see cheap but yummy Malaysian food. Not just Malaysian but different cuisines as well. What I really enjoyed was the dim sum! If we could just go here every time we will have a meal..

This is a must when you visit KL! <3 What's a visit to a city without ever trying their authentic food right?

After a good and hearty meal, we called it a day and went back to the hotel to dip in the pool. In all honesty, I could stare at the view all night and never get tired. This is one of those times you get to think life is beautiful and life is more beautiful when you travel and see new places.

Thankfully, I'll see this view once again next year as we'll have our lay off in Kuala Lumpur! To what country you ask? Still a secret. hihi.
