The Porch at Anonas Extension

The Porch at Anonas Extension

One cannot simply ignore a 12 inch burger together with a giant milkshake on the side. It was a casual Saturday. My high school friends and I planned this little get together weeks prior to our scheduled meet up (we're part of the labor force now so it's definitely hard to schedule meet ups). And well, we're semi grown ups na (semi lang coz we're still kids at heart. naks!) so it's kinda different now. Before, we would only go to SM Manila after class and sometimes we would stroll around Robinsons Manila.. but times have changed. And so is the food scene around metro manila. I suggested we meet around Maginhawa to have casual chitchats. So while I'm on the way to Maginhawa, they told me to go to The Porch na since I was running late to our meet up time and it's dinner time na din.

Without having no idea at all about this cafe, I took a tricycle from Anonas and asked the tricycle driver to alight me at Anonas Extension. The neighborhood isn't like Maginhawa.. and though it's just near Maginhawa, the place is kinda different. There's a big parking space because apparently, people come here to try their 12 inches Mighty Ton burger. There's a long waiting list and luckily, we're 6th on the line. We're still lucky though because come past 6PM, it started to get crowded and the waiting list gets longer.

While waiting for my friends to arrive, I observed what people usually eat here.. and just what I said, people usually order their Mighty Ton and their secret menu.. Milky Way. Some would even drive all the way to Anonas just to take home their famous 12 inches burger. This is a very good place for barkada food trips and families that can tolerate the noisy millennials eating. LOL! We're part of it BTW. I think we're the noisiest.

As for the interiors, it's like a fusion of American and Filipino setting. Did I mentioned that it's from the owners of Casa Verde? Yes, the one in UP Town Center. If I'm not mistaken, when me and the boyfriend tried Casa Verde (which btw also has a long waiting list), we were quite confused with it's theme because Casa Verde sound like Filipino -ish while the interiors is like a diner we see in  movies in an American setting. The food there was quite cheap too and serving is generous.. but w'e're not really impressed with the taste of the food. It's just normal.

The setting inside. There's an al fresco dining and there's also a dining space inside. For barkadas like us that is always noisy.. please be courteous and take the seats outside. HAHA.

Milkyway. Or just plain chocolate shake that's good for 5 to 6 people. This is somehow a secret because it isn't written in their menu but nonetheless.. when you get inside.. this is really not a secret anymore.

All hail the Mighty Ton! 12 inches burger that comes with fries of your choice. To be honest though, the burger is also plain to me. Nothing fancy. The only reason why it stands out is because of its size.. but other than that, I don't think this burger will be famous enough to drive people come to The Porch. Quoting my friend "Dapat lang pala lakihan yung pagkain para dayuhin ng tao no?". But hey.. if you're really for the size and you and your friends have a big appetite.. try and check this one out! This is good for 8 to 10 hungry people. Partner with their milkyway then you're already solved! :D

The squad. We look quite decent here. This is before we burst out laughing and creating the bottoms up challenge for the milky way! haha!

This two deserves their own photo. haha! I'm not mentioning why but this 2 really made our night! :)

I guess it's safe to say that if you're up to something like food challenges.. then try the Mighty Ton and their milkyway shake. I think it's worth the drive if you're with friends. Also, just a piece of advice.. devour the burger before it gets cold.
