Hong Kong: Mickey and Friends at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Hong Kong Disneyland

Disneyland is one of Hong Kong's most famous attractions. And you haven't been to Hong Kong if you didn't go to Disneyland! For kids and kids at heart like me, this is definitely a happy place especially if you're a Disney fanatic. I won't deny though, my first time here is more magical compared to my second visit. It feels like I was a kid again. I remember my first time, the parade was sooo cool, and the fireworks was super magical! If I remember it correctly, the song back then was A Whole New World and I was holding back my tears while watching the majestic fireworks show. (no judging please! Haha)

The parade on my second time was just like the one I saw on my first visit. It seems like they didn't change any of the steps or characters. Take note that my first time was last 2012 and until now, it was still the same. I was just wondering on how often they change their productions because there are other people who frequent Disneyland and what new could they offer if the productions are all just the same? Just a thought though.

Look how cute the mickey window and handles. Everything  in the train is so mickey-ish.

The best way to go to Disneyland if you're not on a packaged tour is by MTR. It's fast and the station is directly at the front of Disneyland. You will also not get lost because it's not hard to understand the MTR system of Hong Kong.

We decided to go to Disneyland on a Monday because I heard it's super jam packed and the lines tripled every weekends. But hey, even on Mondays, the lines are long! So just imagine what more during weekends. We were at the gate before it even opened because we (or should I say 'I') wanted to explore the whole Disneyland in just a day. Thanks to the Klook app we don't need to fall in line for the tickets, we just printed the voucher and scanned it.. then ta-dah! we're in. It was less of a hassle. The weather that day was bipolar too.

After alighting the train at the Disneyland Resort station (which is soooo on point and in character), the rain started to drop and we thought that it will rain the whole day. However, during lunch time, the sun was out and about and we couldn't express how hot it is that day. It's also HK Disneyland's 10th year celebration so expect that there will be lots of tourists.

The kids are wearing different Disney princesses dresses and some even bought their own mickey/minnie headbands. The Main St. is not yet crowded so I think this is the best time to have a photo taken. Upon entering Disneyland, I first got our map and times guide for the show. Then we first explored Toy Story Land! We rode the train to Fantasyland then we walked to Toy Story Land. When we got there, it was still closed so we had our breakfast while waiting. I am a fan of Toy Story!!! And during my first visit here, Toy Story Land is still under construction so just imagine how happy I am to see the giant Woody. HAHA. The setting is sooo awesome and cool. It's as if we're toys as well. The giant lights and bricks made the setting more Toy Story-ish.

Disneyland isn't for the adrenaline junkies because there are no buwis buhay rides around here. So if you're looking for intense roller coaster rides, you won't find it there. You'll just be bombarded with lots of instagram worthy facades and colorful rides.. which is okay with me. :)

Hi there, Woody!

Disneyland is divided into many lands.. Toy Story Land and Tomorrowland to name a few. So if you're determined to ride all and see every corner, you really have to be early! But not to burst your bubble, you won't be able to ride and see every corner. Prepare also to walk. A LOT. So better wear comfy clothes and shoes that can be of help during sunny and rainy day because weather now a days are very unpredictable. Bring caps and umbrellas. As well as fans to help bust away the hot weather.

As for food, food was verrrrry expensive! Good thing though is the voucher we bought from Klook already has a meal included. It would cost you around 112 HKD (roughly around 800-1000 pesos) for a single meal. Snacks also are very expensive so just prepare a reasonable amount of money when visiting Disneyland. There are a lot of good stuff everywhere so if you really want to enjoy, be prepared.

Be reminded also that selfie/monopods are not allowed inside for "security reasons". No problem though, I know our selfie game is too strong with or without selfie sticks. HAHA! If you're using action cams, its monopod is also not allowed.

There are many short movies around Disneyland so better plan your day ahead if you plan to see it all. We watched Mickey and the Wondrous Book and Mickey's PhilharMagic show which is both amazing. Mickey's PhilharMagic is a 4D production wherein aside from the 3D feature, you can also smell or be splashed by water. Mickey and the Wondrous Book on the other hand tells a story on how Olaf can be back to his own story which is "Frozen". It features different Disney movie. the production's very fun that not just the kids enjoyed. Lining up is worth it! The actors and actresses as well as the dancers really gave justice to the movies. The show is in Chinese, I just don't know if they do it in English too. Subtitles are available so no worries.

And since I'm into all things Disney, I watched both parades during the afternoon and in the evening before the fireworks. Both is so good. It's very lively you want to dance with the presenters. The are marshals though so you can't just really dance with them. All the Disney characters I know are included in both parades. I just hope in the next coming years, they can also include characters from Disney Channel's original movies. Or better yet, they can create one for all these Disney cartoons and original movies. hehe. Who wants to see High School Musical? *raised hand*.

And at around 8:45, the magical fireworks begin. It is spectacular, but like what I said, my first experience was more magical.

It was a very tiring day. From rainy to sunny. But I am not complaining, it's a fun filled day. I'm sure my mom and my sister enjoyed the day too. I would like to come back but not soon. I would like to visit other Disneylands first. It's actually on my bucket list. Will definitely visit Disneyland Paris and Shanghai. Would also like to take a photo with mickey and minnie but we weren't able to catch their viewing times. Definitely a great memory for their 10th anniversary. Hehe.

So that's all for our Hong Kond Disney Land Adventure. I've tried so hard not to bombard this post with lots of pictures so I just trim the number of pictures into a reasonable number. Super daming magagandang pics talaga. hehe. Hopefully next time USS naman. Hihi.

  2. I have been to the US Disney land and I remember how exciting it was. Everyone finds the child within them when they are inside the world. HK's Disney Land looks just as tempting. I hope I get to see it soon...

  5. Why were you crying? That is so cheesy... KIDDING! I like that song too, A Whole New World. When I brought my kids there, I truly had a wonderful time, seeing how happy they were. To have pictures taken with Mickey and friends. They didn't like rides, so we walked around, sat down, walked more. Ate in a fine restaurant there serving excellent dimsum. And the parade, now that I truly enjoyed watching!

As early as now, I've already booked for a passport renewal for me and passport application for my son. I'm crossing my fingers on this, God willing, we'll visit HK and Macau.
